Xobni VS ClearContext
Eh, not much of a fight, I’m not even remotely willing to give up my ClearContext. I’m a huge fan, as I’ve outlined before. Though to be fair, I’m still waiting on my Xobni invite so I haven’t had a chance yet to compare them.
Even if it’s for a short Xobni trial period I’m still not comfortable giving up ClearContext and would like to run them both instead. I did a little googling and came across a post from someone else asking the same question. As usual, the ClearContext folks were completely on top of the situation, and responded that it “should” work, giving me the impression I’ve at least got decent odds of Outlook not blowing up in my face.
Probably the most interesting tidbit was when the ClearContext CEO hinted in the comments at some “sexy” new features that were in the pipe. Color me curious! I certainly wouldn’t mind a bit of Xobni’s features offered by ClearContext as well, because those screenshoots look awfully yummy. Regardless, I hope they both do well, as continued innovation and competition benefits me most of all.

(Use this link to get on the list for Xobni and you’ll help me get my invite sooner!)

Deva’s a smart guy; very worth listening to his ideas about email. While ClearContext may be disappointed that their baby doesn’t have the marketing and blogosphere buzz around it that Xobni has created, I figure (like you, Drew) that having a vibrant ecosystem of email innovation can only be a good thing. I agree with Deva that recent Xobni releases offer significant performance improvements over the early betas.
