Just as good plot and gripping story needs relateable and moving characters to become a good book, so does anime. Darker than Black continues to impress, because while it’s essentially the non-linear tales of a team of professional hitmen, it somehow manages to squeeze in some very moving and flawed characters. Episode 14 even managed to add a bit of poetry!

For those of you with access to the current season of anime from Japan, I’d highly recommend taking a look at Darker than Black. The other two notable series that are an absolute pleasure to watch, and guaranteed to induce refresh-button clicking while waiting for the next release, are Claymore and Dennou Coil.
