Random browsing brought me to the Ultimate Steal site which is an official Microsoft sight offering Office 2007 Ultimate (yes Ultimate) to current students for $60. A quick google shows this normally goes for $679.99? Apparently Microsoft figured out that most normal students are way too poor to afford their products, so in the interest of establishing preference (and staving off open source alternatives) they’ll give it to us for only sixty bucks. Works for me!

Many many thanks to [Pauked.com](http://pauked.com/) who managed to fix my [crashing Outlook 2007](http://pauked.com/blog/?p=230) problem, turns out it was MindManager’s addition to my Outlook install that was causing an extremely reliable and predictable (annoyingly so) crash on exit. Funnily enough, after experiencing several crashes and finding Pauked’s post, the next time I opened Outlook it offered to disable the add-in for me. Hah! Anyway, the MindManager forums acknowledge the problem but don’t offer the solution, the only other google hit I got was Pauked’s and I almost missed it, so I thought I’d add my own two cents to make it easier to find for others. For the sake of redundancy, here’s a cut’n'paste from the Pauked post…

* Run Outlook 2007
* Go to Tools menu / Trust Center…
* Add-ins option. Select COM Add-ins from the Manage dropdown and click Go..
* Look for Export to Mindjet MindManager and untick it. OK the popup.
* Close Outlook (watch it crash) and Restart it.
* Job done!

Cheers!
